Today on the menu: speedwork. Was I looking forward to this? yes and no. Yes to see if I could do it and how fast I could go for the intervals and no because well I am not a fan of pain, reflux and puking. For week 1 I only had 5x400m. This was supposed to be at 5k pace but yesterday I ran a 3 miler at 5k pace and was not tired so I figured that for speedwork I had to try a faster pace. So I set the treadmill at 30 sec faster then 5k pace for the first 400m. The breakfast stayed in. I walked 40 sec between repeats. For the 2nd and 3rd intervals I increased the speed by 10 sec (40 sec faster then 5k pace). I was getting tired but I was still OK. For the last one I increased the pace to 1 min faster then 5k pace. I was tired, I may I have said a few cuss words (all in French so it does not really count right?) and my face was purple but I can do this. I am sure that I can run faster in race then I have been. I think I am scared of getting sick if I go to fast and I don't push until the very end because of that. I have to learn to keep a faster pace for a longer time. The intervals will increase every week and hopefully I will see some results in future races. Reward after speedwork: I smoothie at Juice it Up! Warning: scary picture coming up:
Nice hair I know!! Also notice my tan? I live in California remember.
Not that I would not pick Will up at school looking like this, but I did clean up a little to make sure he does not decide to go home with another mom. Jonathan who was at the kids gym while I was working out said this when I went to pick him up :"Mommy you REALLY need a shower!" All right then.
I know you all want a shirt like this one. It says Life is good under the heart.
Bill thought the name of my blog is not good enough..I think he said it was blah. I do value his opinion. So before Chris K decides to use this blog title I had to make my move.
Duke came back from 16 pts down and beat North Carolina now THAT made me happy big time.
Bring on the best time of the year: March Madness!!!

I think you look great post-run! You worked hard!
So difficult for the Canadians - noone understands them and their native dress is always on sale at Target.
I must admit my speed workouts are very informal - I run fast for awhile then rest and then run fast again. I also have a hard time running fast on the treadmill. It feels so much faster than on land.
Nice job on your workout! I like your blog name change. You look great!
Oh hey! You have a new "name"! I saw your update and exclaimed "who is THIS!!" Haha, it's YOU!
Nice job not blowing chunks on your shoes during the speed work. I think you look hot & sexy- a woman who runs mileage is good looking no matter what!
Good job. Doing 400s w/40sec rest is a serious workout. No need to say "only 5"
French curse words absolutely do not count! Haha!
I love your maple leaf shirt. Yay for Canada!
Good job on the intervals! Love the new blog title :) and the t-shirt!
Kovas: Those are fighting words. How dare he make fun of Canada. I may have to defriend him. I like the new Blog Title. Yours were good too - they are strongly being considered. Do you belive me? Actually, a few are, I like The Witty Runner, so does my kid. Oh, and I wrote up a good post for SUAR. Haven't posted it yet though.
@Chris: you mean it will not be "I love Canada"?
I cannot believe it...listen to your kid she knows you best!
Nice workout, I have a love/hate relationship with speed work
I love your pictures!! But, I am in love with your new bog title!! haahah!
Love the new blog title!!
Congrats on the speed session. I'm certain if you can pull out repeats at up to a minute faster than projected 5K you have a LOT more juice in your tank than you've put out there thus far! I love that you realize this and want to get better!! An attitude like that will take you far:)
Great pics!
did you say MEHRD? hehe. I took french. Love the shirt, its cute!
