Heat vs Caro/Runner's World/Angels

Ok first the training.
Week 4 of Half Marathon training was a good week for me:

Mon: 4th of July race
Tue: 3 miles hills
Wed: 4 miles
Thu: 5 miles: Speedwork : 10x400
Fri: REST
Sat: 8 miles
Sun: 3 miles at 10k pace
total 26 miles

Last week my 8 miles was hell, the heat won the war.  This week, not so much.  Caro won the war.  I left earlier, I brought 36 oz of liquid instead of 20.  I did not just drink water, I had a bottle with Vemma thirst in it and I took some sports jelly beans.  I ran that 8 miles at a pace that was 30 sec faster then last week's pace and I also ran negative splits.  Much better then last week.  I still struggle in the heat, no question but this was better then last week.

This month's Runner's World Magazine is pretty good.  It has a great article on running in the heat like I mentionned in a previous post, also it is the Half Marathon special, good for me  AND today I reached page 114.  What is on page 114?

The race of the Month: Quebec city Marathon!  (Just when you thought I was done talking about Quebec!)  I think it is pretty cool.  I would love to run it one day.

Yesterday we went to the Angels game.  They were playing Seattle.  Bill got REALLY great tickets from a vendor at his work.  We were right by 1st base, row 14.  Only negative was that it was super hot and we were in the sun.  I think the Angels will want us there at every game because they won!!!!

Here view from our seats:

This dude, 1st base player
Went to bat and hit a Homerun!

The kids thought this was the coolest thing!!!! Fireworks after a HR!!

Then this came on the board:

They stopped the game to show the goal and the crowd went nuts!!
It was great!

Great job on your training. That sounds like a really fun baseball game to be at.

Nice job on the training!

My brother is always getting great baseball tickets from vendors and clients. Every once in a while, he can't use them and we get to. You don't get those kind of perks as a teacher, so I really enjoy the good seats. How cool that they stopped the game to show the goal. I love it when different sports support each other. One year, don't remember if it was the Rams or the Cardinals who were kicking butt, but the other pro teams had signs up supporting them.

I love that they had fireworks after a home run. I have never been to a baseball game. How un American is that! I missed that soccer game and after I read the recaps I was so bummed it sounded AWESOME! Glad to hear you won the 8 mile run this week.

YAYYAYAYAYAYAAA for a better week! That heat is a bugger, bleh! I know many long run days I'd get up at 4am to get in a long run of 20+ milers. Good job, girl!!

I don't know that I've ever been to a real baseball game either...and I had a total baseball dad. Always said he would take us but never did. How fun for your boys!! Great job on your training Caroline!

A very good training. The heat is always a problem.
In Italy baseball is not popular, here people live for soccer (not me). I am a fan of rugby, the sport of my youth.

Great job. I am determined to beat the heat we have been having. For me as long as I hydrate, the rest is mental.
I am mental I think.. :)

As you know, I LOVE baseball. GREAT SEATS!!!!

Coach would be cheering against the Angels as a born and bred Washingtonian, but I just liek the games. I always root for the Royals :)

Go punch that heat in the face C!

Nice improvement on the training. If you stopped writing about Canada, how would we ever learn anything?

Sorry I missed this ... I've been driving for 2 days. Does it make me a huge baseball geek that I know that's Dan Haren on the mound? And Mark Trumbo is the guy who hit the homerun? And Alberto Callaspo is the guy sliding into home? I knew all that without looking it up, man I need life.

On ne s'habitue pas à la chaleur! Mais, mon collier de glace aide :)

Trop cool dans Runner's World...une jour j'aimerais bien y aller aussi!

Thanks for all the questions on my Q&A post! I will answer them soon!

Good to hear that you are winning the war against the heat in Socal, the heat has been tough this year it seems like down there.

Great to hear about the Quebec City race!

You had awesome seats for the Angels game! That is a great picture of the pitcher Dan Haren. I've only been to Angels Stadium once, but it was a great stadium, very fan friendly and people were very nice.
