Something for my first leg at Hood to Coast and a winner

Yesterday I ran 5.5 miles.
It was not pain free.
I am tired of this crap groin pain................
BUT

Nothing can put me in a bad mood this week.

It is HOOD TO COAST WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is finally here!

Now because I still have pain and because I want to do all I can to be as OK as can be comes Friday.  I will rest more this week.  Like today I am resting after running Saturday and Sunday.  Tomorrow an easy 3 miler and rest Wednesday and Thursday.

I am running leg 1 and it is all downhill and rated VERY HARD.  If you have seen the movie you know it is no joke.

Another thing that makes me happy:

It's coming with me to Oregon, so we will stay in touch!!!

One more thing that makes me happy:  Announcing the winner of my NUUN Giveaway:

Brand New Marathoner and also heading to Hood to Coast this week:
Christy!!!!!!!!  Congrats Christy and email me your address!

Back to HTC for something important to me.
I wanted to remember 2 runners who did what we do many times every week:  They went for a run.   Sadly, they never came back home.  I think about them both often although I never knew them.  I know how lucky I am to be able to run HTC or any run actually, so I am taking them on my back for that first leg down Mount Hood.  I made this bib:

If you don't know their stories

Sherry Arnold here.
Sarah Hart here.

You are being wise to take care of yourself! I think you will have fun, and it's so nice of you to make this big event a memory run. I can't wait to hear about all of your adventures.

Super sweet memorial :) I love it.

Be good to your body...stop cursing it. It is telling you something and if you don't listen it will just start yelling more loudly. I speak from experience.

You will be awesome charging down the mountain! So looking forward to meeting you :)

That is very touching...and very important that we never forget!!! I love this idea and how proud their families will be for remembering them in a fashion they both desired...running!

have a great time running Hood to Coast...but listen to your body and be careful!!! I too speak from experience, and sometimes in the end the body starts to win! Keep an eye on that groin pain ;)

Enjoy Hood to Coast! Hope your groin pain goes away by then.

I finally had a chance to watch the US-Canada semifinal soccer game, here are my notes that I took while watching it:
-That game was the best womens game I've ever watched, and one of the best soccer games period I've ever seen too
-Christine Sinclair is the best player in the women's game, amazing talent, she really should have had 4 goals, but Kyle didn't pass her the ball when she was open late in 2nd half
-USA fitness seemed to be better than Canada
-Canada fouled the US a lot
-US may have overall outplayed Canada it seemed like (US had more talent overall, but Sinclair is a 1 woman team who made all the difference)
-It was a very physical game with tons of hard fouls by both sides
-Though in the end, that call on the Canada goalie in the 77th minute basically helped to decide the game. That call is bogus and should not have been made.
-Though I will say the US was on the attack and was knocking on the door late in the 2nd half, maybe the US would have scored anyways between the 77th minute and 90th minute to tie it up and send it to extra time (on this we will never know)

So I do feel bad for Canada, because in the end they likely deserved the victory over the US - even though the game was super close. It is mainly a bummer that a referees call basically decided it.
