Naughty or Nice?

Yesterday I did my last long run before my 5th half marathon.  10 miles and it went great.  No pain.  I have been icing my foot and doing the stretching from the video I posted here and so far so good.
I was not sure I would do the 10 miles at first, I told myself 8 minimum and I would evaluate at 4 miles.  All was good and I kept going.  The weather was good. Cool and sunny not too windy.  I was afraid to get dehydrated again so I was careful this time.  I was dressed too warm so this weekend I am going for different clothing options.  Short sleeves instead of long sleeves.  I need to make homemade arm sleeves with cheap Target socks...I have never done it before so I hope I do this right. :)

This week is taper.....boooo...good thing I have a lot of things to do like putting the Christmas Tree up!  I took the Christmas movies out....my favorite is Love Actually.  I love that movie!  My kids favorites are Home Alone 1 and The Polar Express.  Jonathan, my youngest, could be Kevin in Home Alone so I am NEVER leaving him behind!!!!

Saturday was the Christmas Party at Bill's work....
So what do you think? Was I naughty or nice? (if you don't know why I bring this up go read here and comeback)

Well apparently you can take the girl out of Canada but you cannot take the Canadian  the out of the girl.

So yeah, I was nice like a good Canadian ought to be.  When we got there the gal who had asked if I spoke English was at the reception.  I was behind Bill so she could not see me at first but I knew right away it was her.  She said hello to Bill and the boys and then Bill said "This is my wife Caroline".  I just gave her a little "look" and I said hello.  I could tell she was uncomfortable and that was enough for me.  This is a really weird event to attend for me.  Most people are too shy to come talk to me because I am "the boss' wife"; as if I would give Bill my review on each of his employees.  I did go talk to a couple who had the cutest toddler girl, I told them I thought their daughter was really beautiful and I saw they had other kids.  The mom was standing ans she told me they had 6 kids!  She looked so tired and also so young.  I asked if she was the one working for the company and she said that it was her husband who was sitting down and giving a bottle to their 3 mos old baby.  I said hello to him and could tell he had no clue who I was so I just told him I was Bill's wife.  He tried to stand up immediately like I was the Queen of California!  Poor guy.  I told him to stay sit of course!  The man was feeding a baby!  I went back to our table and asked Bill if he liked this guy and he said he was from a temp agency but that they were in the process of hiring some of these guys.  I told him that he should hire THAT guy.  Bill said they first have to pass a background check...OK I get that.  I said "if it is between him and another one that is just as good you need to pick him"  Bill asked me why I was sticking my nose in this and I said "Because he has SIX KIDS and he needs a job and you can give that to him and I expect you to do just that".  So he said he would if the background check comes back clean.  He had no idea this young man had 6 children.   Just for that I am happy I went to that party, maybe something good will come out of it.  Each kid that was there left with a $25 gift card from Toys R Us.  The owner is always very generous with the kids for Christmas.  It is a real shame that almost nobody said thank you.  They had a nice meal, the gift cards for ALL the kids 16 and under, other prizes (camera, Wii, bikes, gift cards, etc) for kids and employees.  A lot of companies don't do anything for Christmas anymore and they still do and it makes me sad that people are not more grateful.

I LOVE Love Actually! It my favorite christmas movie as well.

And well done with the temp. Now you have to let us all know when he gets hired. :)

Yeah, I figured you'd be nice to the girl. She was uncomfortable...hopefully that means she realized she was out of line. And it was SUPER nice that you stepped in for that family. You may have made a huge difference in their lives.

I'm really surprised that so few people said thank you. Jeff's boss always does nice parties for his employees, and we always make sure to talk to him and thank him afterwards as well as having J say thank you.

I am surprised by the lack of simple Thank You's too, these days. What is the MATTER with people?

I love LOVE ACTUALLY, actually! Such a cute movie.

Glad you had a nice time at the party and were able to mingle a bit... and meet that nice man and his wife and 6 kids. Hope he passes muster so your husband hires him!

Tapering is always a magic word: no more worries for the forecast, no alarm in early morning ecc.
You are a very nice person, I hope he will get the job.
