Do you speak English?

Look what I got from our  citrus trees!
The best part is that they are GOOD!
The kids are so impressed to get fruits from our backyard!
Those lemon smells so good!

My foot is better! Thank you for the advices on using a tennis ball and bottle of ice, it does help.  I also found this guy on youtube, I did what he does here and it works.  Today was my planned rest day and tomorrow I will go for a 3 miles test. If all goes well, Sunday I am doing 10 miles, my last long run.

So the other day I answered a phone call from Bill's new Administrative Assistant who I have not met yet. ...
"Hello?"
She asked to speak to Bill.  He was not there so I said "Can I please take a message?"
She then said "Do you speak English?"...I was not sure she was talking to me so I asked if she was.  She said yes.  Hmm OK.  Now I am aware that I have an accent but this is a bit ridiculous.
If you are new and curious you can go HERE and hear me talk. :)

Then she said "Who am I speaking to?"
Me: "To his W I F E"
So here would have been a good idea to say something nice....no no
she said : "Have him call me back" no please, no thank you, no nothing.
Lovely gal.

Cannot wait to meet her TOMORROW at the Christmas party.
Should be interesting.

Wishing all the Las Vegas runners all the best!!!!
Have Fun and Run Fast!

I never watched that video before but I did read the post. I LOVED hearing you talk. So different from what I've always "heard" in my head when I read your e-mails and comments. I feel like i know you better now. Thanks for adding this link!

Wow I would say she needs a class in phone manners! Can't wait to read how it goes at the Christmas party!

She's got a lot to learn... can't wait to hear how the party goes.

Having heard you talk in person (yay), I have to say that I think your accent is lovely.

You'd think she'd know how to kiss up to the boss's wife a little better.

Hope your foot is better!

I'll wave your way as we drive through your neck of the woods tomorrow on our way to Vegas, thanks for the well wishes, I'll pocket some :-) You're halfway there from where I am, you should come and cheer everyone on! :-)

Thanks for posting the video!

And wow not a nice assistant. Rude!

I think she should be polite to everyone she deals with INCLUDING her boss's family. Not too smart, there.

I hope he will tell her that her telephone manners need some polishing. Yikes!

You could handle that Christmas party in a number of ways...

I was trying to think of a way to humorously comment on this but failed miserably. Either one of two things is happening with her: 1) She is genuinely a rude person - then the party can be quite entertaining; or 2) She is so inexperienced that she is not aware that she is rude. In that case you need to set the rules of engagement.

Either way, the party can be more interesting than most!

I have just got similar fruits from the trees in my garden; I put lemon everywhere!
I hope that the test went well and you can run your 10 miles.
About the call: what a "lovely" woman. I don't go anymore to the Christmas parties of work.... I will tell you why....

Now I would think having citrus trees in your backyard would make living in exile really, really worth it! Jealous!

I've had PF a few times. Ever since going minimalist and walking barefoot as much as possible, it's a thing of the past. Highly recommend it!

LOL!! As you know I am Canadian too and get the accent thing all the time, but never "Do you speak English?". I agree with Amanda, you should speak French at the party. That is what I would do and I would make sure my Canadian accent was really thick for her to hear. LOL!! I get picked on for my "outs", "abouts", "house", etc.. Hope you are feeling better and can get your 10 miler in.

I have an accent as well, but somebody never asked me that question. You should take a picture of her face tomorrow :)

I hope your husband gave her some, um, gentle correction after you told him that story. She's probably just jealous of your accent. Definitely share about the party!!

So cool that you can grow your own oranges and lemons!

As for the phone call, while she should definitely be much more polite when talking to her boss's family, it highlights a real lack in her phone skills that needs to be addressed. Being rude to YOU just reflects on her, but if she's rude to customers or Bill's higher-ups, that reflects poorly on HIM.
