Long Run downer, interview and Disney

How's is that for a strange title....

So my last long run was pretty crappy.
I left too late and it was very hot.
I was not feeling the "pep in my step"...the miles were not passing by quickly..you know what I mean I am sure.
I changed my route a little and before I left and informed my husband of the changes and he told me that someone was raped near the new added section to my route.....It happened on a path I was not planning on taking but still...made me a little nervous.  I decided to go ahead and stay only in areas where there's a lot of houses.
I finished my run and I felt like I had not accomplished much..pace was not good and I was happy this was not Surf City day....

So what do you think...better to put the miles and get the run done even if it is crappy or is it a waste of time?

Disney....The Mouse is greedy... and messing up my fall schedule.
I wanted to run the Disneyland Half Marathon again and skip Long Beach this year.
But 175 dollars for a Half Marathon is just too much.  Even if it is Disneyland.  Even if the medal is nice.  It really actually is $190 if you count the parking they make you pay.
So no Disney race for me.  I am looking for a new race to try in the fall.

My husband started his new job Monday.  I am happy to have our "normal" back.
No more interviews for him...now it is my turn!
Yep..I have a job interview tomorrow!
It is at our school district and it is for the very prestigious (!) position of proctor.
It is a very small job, just a few hours a day.  I figured it is a start and it would get me in the door..and maybe lead to something more interesting later on.
I am meeting with 6 vice-principals tomorrow morning..I am told the interview is long.  I will be given a set of 15 questions and I will have to go through them.  There will be no "discussion"..just me talking pretty much.   I hope my accent will not be a problem... :)
It would be nice to have a little job and still be able to do everything that is needed for my kids.  We will see how that goes!

Oh goodness, that's more than most of my adventure races cost! Too much for me to pay for a half, for sure.

Good luck on Bill's first day and with your interview!

Better to get the crappy runs out of the way in training than race day. They can't all be flowers and fairy dust, right? :)

Good luck tomorrow!! I always worry about my accent but nobody ever cares. Almost everybody has an accent here, one way or the other.

That's just too much for a race! Wow! I've run full marathons that cost $35!!
Glad your lives are heading back to normal and hopeful for your job interview. Good luck and let that accent charm 'em!

I don't mind the cost (obviously I'll run Disney at any cost!), but I wanted to do te Dumbo Challenge, and it sold out too fast for me. Dang it.

Good luck on your interview!!

Good luck tomorrow!

I was thinking about doing the 10K at Disney... but I haven't even looked at the pricing and I know it's going to be crazy. I love their races, but the cost is wild.

Disney is obnoxiously expensive, but I signed up anyway. I have a friend who wants to do her first half...then that turned into four more people doing their first half with the group, so it should be fun. Have you thought of the Rock and Roll LA for a fall race? I did it the year before last and it was pretty decent.

Good luck on your interview!

- Congrats to hubby on his new job

- $190??? I can do almost any half ironman at that price

- Yes the run is worth it, sometimes we train for endurance, sometimes we train for mental toughness

- GOOD LUCK at the interview

I'm sorry for the crappy run - I hate those. I do think that even the crappy runs are worth it. They build mental toughness and they make the great runs that more sweeter.

Disney is super $$$ I would love to run one someday because it looks like fun but between the race fees and traveling it is a huge investment. If I were to ever run another full marathon, that might be one I'd consider.

Hope to see you at Surf City! We are staying at the Fairmont Hotel - when we get closer, let me know what time you're thinking of going to the expo.

Wishing you luck on your interview! I wanted to do Disneyland (Dumbo Double Dare!) too, but a) way too expensive and b) sold out way too fast. Not in the cards this year.. oh well!

Good luck on your interview!!! Fingers crossed!

In regards to Disney, you might look on Craigslist and see if anyone is selling their bib, I did that for Disney World Half two weeks ago and lucked out paying less than half the price.

The mouse is greedy is RIGHT!!! The race is Florida is awesome, but it was so much money. Your Angels are gonna be good this year - crap, them and the Dodgers have bought every good player on the market!

Yikes on the $$$ Disney race. I think I'd be drawing the line on that one as well. All the best with your interview!

Glad to hear that things are getting back to normal at your house. I am also glad to hear that you have an interview as well! Good luck to you! I know the Mouse is greedy and I must really be an idiot because I paid almost $300 for the Dumbo Double Dare without even thinking twice about it. I am a sucker for inaugural Disney races and I am glad I signed up because it's sold out. Be careful out there. I have heard that there is something going on in the local area and have been a little nervous about it.

It's always worth doing long runs, crappy or not. Shorter runs you can miss occasionally, I think...but long ones are crucial!!

Good luck tomorrow with the interview, how exciting.

regardless if the run is great or crappy, it's still time on your legs which is what matters!

I think Disney is ridiculous, but if you are just wanting to do one to say you've done one (I did princess 2 years ago), then it might be a bucket list race. For those that do every Disney race I want to know what they do for a living!

Good luck in interview- if anything you'll stand out because of your accent :)

Congrats on your husband's new job! Glad that you don't have to move either. Good luck on you getting the part time job too!

As for

I do think the 49ers will win Sunday 27-20, but I've thought the Ravens will lose every game in the playoffs so far - and they have won every time. But their luck runs out on Sunday.

As for Melbourne - the city is amazing - I saw the first 4 days of the tennis tourney, it was awesome. Saw 24 tennis matches total, such a great time. If you like sports, Melbourne is the place to be! I'll do a blog post on it soon, trying to download all my pics and catch up on life.
