I would try to stay away from braces and work on strengthening. I had changed shoes just a few weeks prior to the problem emerging, and when I threw them away (at the doctor's prompting), I started getting better. I took about 400mg of ibuprofen three times a day and cut back my mileage from 30 per week to 10ish. I was totally fine in 7 days. I don't know if this would work for you, but if it's a tendon problem like I had (and "Runner's Knee" is a tendon problem), then you could try ibuprofen. good luck!Brennanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15674451017163062773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8284298186061040784.post-245318382802369412013-04-03T19:37:19.503-07:002013-04-03T19:37:19.503-07:00I have had some knee issues in the past and the be...I have had some knee issues in the past and the best thing is resting and icing. You can also try running with some type of support on your knee. I have also used KT Tape. Maybe I can bring you some to try to see if it helps you. I've been dealing with the same nagging knee pain now for about 8 months and am fed up, but i'm poor so I can't go to a specialist yet... I'm saving up! ;) I'm actually just hoping that strengthening and balancing out the muscles in my legs will resolve the issue... we shall see...Zaneta @ Runner's Luckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14297091763891223499noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8284298186061040784.post-71272356695143019102013-04-03T12:06:16.363-07:002013-04-03T12:06:16.363-07:00Hmmmm, you should take a photo and point to exactl...Hmmmm, you should take a photo and point to exactly where it hurts on your knee. Maybe someone else has it and know exactly what it is?? I agree with you on the copay. I wasted a lot of money getting my IT Band figured out. That is also a pinch feeling as well but it's more to the side of the kneecap. Are your shoes old?

And when my hips start getting out of alignment I tend to feel things in my knees too. Ok from my experience ...runners are so stubborn :)

Ok from my experience I agree it sounds like runner's knee. Have you started more speed work, more hills or a lot more mileage lately?

The only real help is going to be the PT exercises. However the good news is you really should stay active!! It helps to keep it from getting stiff so anytime it hurts stop immediately, but otherwise you should be good with walks and easy runs that aren't super long.RunToTheFinishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13995696358152941044noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8284298186061040784.post-82978667900037522032013-04-03T04:21:08.308-07:002013-04-03T04:21:08.308-07:00When I briefly had runner's knee I rested and ...When I briefly had runner's knee I rested and iced; when I returned to running I wore a strap for a few weeks and changed to a more neutral shoe. Your symptoms sound similar to what I experienced when I had it a couple of years ago. Mostly ice and rest helped it.
